Ingolstadt, Germany - Audi Tradition will showcase at an international classic car show in Germany three recently-restored rare motor sports cars, it was announced. Marking the 75th anniversary of the Auto Union merger of four German car makers from the 1930s, Audi will also present at the 19th Techno Classica in Essen (from March 29 to April 1) a 1932 model Horch 670 Sport Cabriolet, a DKW F5 Roadster from 1937, a 1938 model Wanderer W 25 K Roadster and the 1939 model Audi 920 Cabriolet.
All three motor sports cars on exhibit come from the pre Audi Quattro era. A 1954 DKW 3=6 Sonderklasse F 91 was rebuilt by Czech specialists using original documents from the Auto Union's motor sport department.
The 1979 Audi 80 GLE rally version is the works car driven by Harald Demuth and Freddy Kottulinsky in the European and World Rally Championship races. It was restored by the same company that cooperated with Audi on rally cars in the late 1970s.
The third racer is the circuit version Audi 80 GLE from 1980, driven by Hans Joachim Nowak and Willy Bergmeister in the European Touring Car Championship. The car is based on one of the original bodies built at the Ingolstadt factory for motor racing.
