Italian GT3 Championship's morning race in Monza was the 13th start scheduled for Audi Sport Italia's R8 LMS in the domestic series, and it definitely proved to be a lucky one, as this time out Dindo Capello, paired with Portugal's Filipe Albuquerque, posted the car's Italian maiden win. The brisk days of early autumn seemed to have mended No 58 R8 LMS' top speed woes suffered throughout the hot summer rounds. Capello and the young single-seater graduate which took over Giorgio Sanna for this season finale rose to the occasion and were able to put in solid drives and keep at bay all the opposition in Race 1 --with some additional help from the 30-second handicap penalty that Livio-Bontempelli's Ferrari F430 had to cope with after posting three wins in the previous past four rounds. Albuquerque also posted the 3rd overall place after two GT2 Ferraris.
In Race 2 Albuquerque took the start and handed the car over to Capello in second place, but the three-time Le Mans winner couldn't work out miracles, as Bontempelli-Livio's GT3 Ferrari after having clinched the Italian GT3 crown with their Race 1 runner-up finish, went flat out from the overall pole position spot to the end nipping the fastest of the GT2 Ferraris to claim the first place overall as well. Capello took the checker second among GT3s (the fifth such finish for the team this season) and third overall behind the two dueling Prancing Horse's cars.
