VLN: First Win for Audi R8 on the Nordschleife

On Saturday, Team Phoenix Racing clinched the first victory of the new Audi R8 LMS on the legendary Nürburgring-Nordschleife and Audi’s first win in the BF Goodrich Endurance Championship that has been held since 1977. The exploit achieved by Marc Basseng, Frank Biela and Hans-Joachim Stuck also put an end to a nine-race winning streak by Porsche. The fifth round of the season had to be stopped after three and a half hours due to a thunderstorm. At that time, the R8 of the Phoenix team, which had started from position two on the grid, was clearly running in front.
