In many ways, the Carlisle Import Auto Event in Carlisle, PA has become a bit of a “perfect storm” for Audi fans. A nearly decade-long presence by well-organized Audi clubbers eventually gave way to a breakfast event at a nearby state-of-the-art facility of Audi Mechanicsburg and this year will step up its four ringer game even more with several new attractions spearheaded by a screening of the Le Mans documentary Truth in 24 II , Q&A with VIPs from Audi Sport and Audi marketing, as well as an R8 Race/Road display in the city center, R8 owner activities and more.
Intrigued? Read on for all of the details and so that we may better plan, please RSVP to movie and breakfast events as noted below.
FRIDAY MAY 18
ALL DAY - Carlisle Show Gates Open
Day 1 of the three-day Carlisle Import event usually starts off at a slower pace. Those with a reservation at a nearby hotel and those who choose to rough it “Le Mans” style by camping on the show field roll in as early as work permits. At the show field, those pre-registered with the Audi Club group already begin to get the lay of the land.

12 PM-8PM - Audi R8 Race/Road Display
• Audi R8 LMP1 Racecar on Display with Audi R8 Road Car
• Grab Lunch Downtown
Once you’ve checked in at the field you may want to head into downtown Carlisle, have lunch and check out the Audi R8 Race/Road display on the northwest corner of the Carlisle town square from 12PM. This unique display with a nod toward Audi’s road and racing heritage will include an Audi R8 LMP1 racer that won the last race (Lime Rock 2006) of the legendary R8 LMP1 as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2005. Next to this racing icon will be a 2012 Audi R8 road car.
The Audi R8 Race/Road display will remain in the square all afternoon and into the evening, convenient for Audi owners and other car enthusiasts who wish to take part in more events planned for downtown.
6PM - Audi Club Dinner at Market Cross Pub
• Audi Owner Parking on N. Hanover St.
• Dinner with the Audi Club
For Audi Club members planning to attend the usual dinner at Market Cross on Carlisle’s North Hanover Street, Space is very limited at this very popular dinner so RSVP with the local Audi Club organizers if you wish to attend. And, if space fills up, choose from one of several other pubs and restaurants in the downtown area.
Carlisle Events have worked with the town to have meters bagged for show attendee parking on the first two blocks of Hanover Street. The open space for parking conveniently stretches from the R8 Race/Road display to the Market Cross pub.
8PM – 10PM - Truth in 24 II Screening at Carlisle Theatre + VIP Q&A Session
• See Audi’s latest racing documentary
• Q&A session with Audi of America CMO and Audi Sport Le Mans Engineer
• Exclusive Audi R8 owner parking in front of Carlisle Theatre
• Truth in 24 II red carpet photo op for attendees
• $5 Ticket Benefits local charity
Later in the evening, Audi Mechanicsburg has worked with Audi of America, Carlisle Events and Fourtitude to organize an exclusive screening of Truth in 24 II at the historic Carlisle Theatre just a half block west of the R8 Race/Road display (44 West High Street). Cost is $5 with all proceeds benefitting the local Safe Harbor charity.
Doors will open at 7PM, with ‘Truth in 24 II’ photo screen shots so you can pose for the paparazzi just like the Audi Sport drivers at the L.A. premier (shown above). Complimentary snacks and a cash bar will be available. Also planned is R8 exclusive parking directly in front of the theatre.
The movie will begin at 8PM, with a Q&A session to follow that includes special guests Scott Keogh, Audi of America CMO and Audi Sport engineer Brad Kettler.
Scott Keogh has been Audi of America’s head of marketing since 2006. As CMO he’s made some very progressive advertising moves for the brand. Most notable to racing fans, Keogh conceptualized and underwrote the making of both Truth in 24 movies.
Brad Kettler has served many roles for Audi Sport, including chief engineer at Le Mans. Brad plays a cameo part in the first movie and is currently handling the factory support for the R8 GRAND-AM this season. Last sseason Mr. Kettler played an important, albeit off-screen, roll on the winning #2 Audi R18 TDI team. Nearly every time “Red Sonja” pitted, it stopped at Brad’s feet, working with Leena Gade to ensure the team’s winning performance. Kettler was an instrumental part of last year’s victory and offers plenty of insight into the hard fought win.

There’s no better place for Audi owners to start their main show day than with a complimentary breakfast and camaraderie at Audi Mechanicsburg.
In case you missed them on Friday, the 2005 Audi R8 LMP1 racer and 1985 Audi Sport quattro from the North American Audi Tradition collection will be on display.
