Our black S6 doesn't beg for attention but those LEDs continue to attract glances. Thumbs up and nods of appreciation are commonplace, and we've even been stopped on the street and hammered with questions by the owner of an older S6. Drunk on popularity, we decided to turn it up a notch. American-market S6 models feature LED arrays that deactivate when the car's headlights are turned on. Utilizing the VAG-Com do-it-yourself diagnostic tool from Ross-Tech, we were able to program the LEDs to operate as DRLs and to stay on with the headlights. While deep into the car's diagnostics and user settings, we were also able to activate other European-market features, such as the ability to open and close the windows and/or sunroof via the car's keyfob.
Rest of World lighting (running LEDs with headlights)

Removing Seatbelt Chime
17 – Instruments
Coding – change from 2129268 to 2129208 (6th position is for seatbelt warning – 0 is off)
Operating Windows with Remote
46 – Central Convenience
Adaptation – Channel 61
Change from 10 to 15
Coding – change from 4618269 to 4618397 (plus 128 to enable comfort remote settings)
Mileage on the S6 is currently just under 15K and we're now due for scheduled service. Our Audi tester didn't include the optional service package, so this means out-of-pocket expenses. We've made an appointment at the local dealer, and while we're there we'll also have the techs check out a haunted rear-passenger window switch. Depending on its mood, one-touch-down operation may or may not work on the correct pane, while closing the window may require input from the passenger door control — a nuisance, but one that will be fixed under warranty.
