Friedrichshafen, Germany - With 1,000 tricked out vehicles and 19 world premieres on hand, TUNING WORLD BODENSEE wowed as many as 100,000 visitors from all over Europe. During the trade show's four days, a total of 250 exhibitors presented the latest models and accessory innovations in ten exhibition halls and on the sunny exhibition grounds, doing justice to the tuning industry's top priority of creating uniquely individual automobiles. The annual event's sixth edition was more than simply a trade show. With 150 exhibiting clubs on hand, the Miss Tuning 2008 pageant and rollicking parties, it was also a festival.
"We've got the Woodstock of tuning here," beamed trade show Director Klaus Wellmann. "It's an absolute pleasure to experience the tuning scene together with so many enthusiasts in such a relaxed atmosphere." The tuning scene's sixth 'family reunion' took place in Friedrichshafen with summery temperatures and a positive vibe in the air. "You could clearly sense the industry's optimism. Company representatives kept emphasizing the good business opportunities that the tri-border region offered," reported Project Director Dirk Kreidenweiß. This was confirmed by a survey carried out by the German Association of Auto Tuners (VDAT): Ninety percent of industry participants anticipate that 2008 will also be a good business year.
The trade show event's extensive entertainment program has become a brand name unto itself. Drifting pro Olaf Commijs, the breakdance world champions Flying Steps and three evening shows among many highlights kept the good times rolling for tuning fans long after sundown. In fact, 89 percent of visitors rated TUNING WORLD BODENSEE's entire offering including its entertainment program as either "very good" or "good".
This year, along with the positive response from exhibitors and visitors, there was large media interest: 426 journalists from 14 countries, including 14 video teams registered with the public relations department. "What we've accomplished over four days in terms of media coverage is priceless," declared Gerhard Königseder, owner of Königseder Tuning.
Utilized for the first time, Messe Friedrichshafen's new traffic and parking concept also stood the test. Added parking spaces, an optimized parking management scheme and a dedicated bus lane for trade show shuttles ensured that trade show traffic flowed without a hitch. "The close collaboration of all the traffic experts paid off. Friedrichshafen weathered the storm of visitors with flying colors," concluded Klaus Wellmann at the trade show's close.
For many auto enthusiasts, TUNING WORLD BODENSEE has become an annual must. In response to the question "Do you plan to attend TUNING WORLD BODENSEE next year?", 94 percent answered "Yes". A promising indicator, in other words, about next year's edition, which will be held from April 30 to May 3, 2009 in Friedrichshafen.
