As with North America, the European show scene slows as autumn approaches. However, that didn’t stop Patrick Hille of VWHome.de in heading to the northwest of Germany to cover the Varl Treffen in Varl – Altjührden organized by the VW and Audi Club Nordsee (www.VACN.de).

The show may sound remote, but drawing over 600 Volkswagens and Audis shows it is an event not to be missed. This is especially the case at the end of the season when events such as this get fewer and further between.

Varel is the last major event of the season, making it the last good opportunity for regulars to see each other before packing their cars away in the garage for the winter or pulling off that set of expensive alloys and swapping them for some winter wheels and tires.

A range of Audis showed for the event, ranging from some early B1 and B2 80s to later model A4s. Rarer models such as a built V8 and even a factory works livery UrQuattro could also be found.

The German scene continues to produce some of the cleanest A1 and A2 Golfs and Jettas we’ve seen. There were also some oddballs such as two open-top A2 Golfs and a targa-roofed Polo.

Special thanks once more for comprehensive European coverage provided by Patrick Hille of www.VWHome.de.
